The art and architectural details of Roman churches seem to outdo each other especially in the baroque refurbishments. Note the fleur-de-lis in golden mounts. The eyes of the viewer are invited always to raise their gaze up to the ‘heavens’ as they sit or wander around the churches.

Beautiful 😊
Would you identify the church?
I am going through 20 years of thousands of images right now, and my late husband was the one who remembered every detail so I don’t recall at the moment but if I recall it I’ll post it here.
Hi. Have you visited San Lorenzo in Damaso? It needs more love.
I haven’t but thank you truly for the recommendation. What do you love about it? Many things I bet… would love to hear about them!
It lacks the outstanding artistic objects (eg, paintings) found in many churches. The beauty here is in the architecture from the pre-Baroque era. It gives an alternative view to what Roman churches can be. Also I love the fact that you enter a place of tranquility in a quite busy area of the city. It’s an overlooked space in Rome.
I actually looked it up and remember I did go there with my late husband.
